Comparison is the thief of joy

I am free to be myself. In this society, I am encouraged to follow my own path, the job I should have, choose my religion and determine my values.

The standard for measuring success in this society is entirely dependent on the personal achievements of each person. Valuations are not based on commitments to community and social relations. Selfishness is accepted, and self-centeredness is acceptable. That becomes living in the dizziness of freedom. No one knows what position we must have towards the other. Although everyone is free to follow any path, it feels like we are going astray. Everyone is absolutely sure that other people have a better life.

When you have nothing but an identity and a job title to rely on, you find yourself in a situation where you constantly compare yourself to others, and compare is the thief of happiness.

I see the issue of extreme selfishness in society as a big problem. We must learn that it is possible to be happy with the rest of the community. The habit of focusing on the views of others (listening to them)is a promotion of human qualities. And the better we can understand each other, the happier we will be.
